CUCKOO.666 returns!
This year the CUCKOO Halloween blend comes bearing two coffees with stories that feel almost too perfectly suited for the season - one transformed by time, fermentation and altitude, the other pulled back from the edge of disappearance. From the highlands of Colombia comes an intensely fruit-driven microlot subjected to 92 hours of fermentation, pushing the coffee into darker, stranger territory. From Haiti comes a coffee born from the resurrection of farms and communities that had nearly vanished from the map. Together, they create something deeply sweet, wildly complex and just unsettling enough to feel like it shouldn’t exist.
The first half of the ritual is Colombia El Porvenir, grown by Óscar Realpe high in Totoró, Cauca. Its extended 92-hour fermentation draws out ripe berries, tropical fruit, wine-like sweetness and layers of deep fermented complexity. Waiting on the other side is Haitian Cafe Kreyol Zombie Desert, part of the long revival of Haitian coffee through local cooperatives and Cafe Kreyol’s work rebuilding farms, livelihoods and coffee production. Full-bodied and creamy, it brings caramel, chocolate, malt and exotic spice, with a richness that lingers long after the cup is gone. Fruit. Fermentation. Chocolate. Spice. Resurrection.
