The 2023 666 Halloween Blend is a frightfully delicious blend of two haunting single origins. The first being the dominant component of the blend, a Colombian anaerobic natural from Cafe Embrujo (roughly translated to “bewitched coffee”) - the umbrella company for the Hacienda La Palmera farm. The farm is mostly run by women and is dedicated to the production of extremely high quality coffees. This microlot was named “Witch” and was grown next to other supernatural names like “Shaman” and “Wizard.” This Colombia Witch brings loads of juicy plum and red wine flavors and contributes chocolate and caramel to the full-bodied blend.
Twenty percent of the blend is a suspiciously sweet coffee from the La Peña farm in the Santa Barbara municipality of Honduras. It’s a fully washed coffee with flavors of brown sugar oatmeal cookies with a buttery caramel sweetness and light acidity. Together these two are roasted just past medium to become a delectably devious almost-dark roast that goes well with milk or is a bold choice for a cup of joe that is “black as midnight on a moonless night.”
